Job Description

Duties:
· Operate 12 passenger vessels – zodiac and covered vessels
· Hosting clients pre/post trip and dealing with their concerns
· Ensure medical checks are performed
· Prepare people for being on the water
· Ensure floater suits are worn correctly
· Know how to use all onboard equipment
· Wear a PFD & carry emergency equipment at all times while on the water
· Lead group on an interpretive boat tour
· Operate marine tour in a safe manner
· Wash / Maintain / repair equipment
· Report vessel operation problems to supervisor
· Complete vessel log at end of the day.
· Fuel, oil and clean up after tour finished
· Maintain vessel in an orderly fashion
· Keep tie-up float clean and orderly adjacent to vessels
· Report all incidents and complete appropriate form
· Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
· Be knowledgeable about marine and terrestrial environment

Responsibilities

Qualifications:
· SVOP

Wage $17.50 – $22.00 per hr.

(7 Month Seasonal Contract)

Camp Jubilee Retreat and Conference Centre is situated on the scenic and majestic Indian Arm.  As Camp Jubilee is only accessible by water, we are looking to hire 1-2 Passenger Boat Captains (Full or Part-Time) for our busy 2022 season from April to October.

The successful applicant(s) will mainly shuttle children up to Camp Jubilee and back. We also offer Water Taxi and Tour services to the general public (through our operating partner Indian Arm Recreational Services Ltd). The vessels include 2-40 passenger vessels as well as a 12-passenger water taxi. The successful candidate will be a friendly, “hands-on” mariner who enjoys “Being on the Water” and has a keen interest in hosting and educating guests of all ages, especially children.

Required Certifications/Experience:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Qualified Captain with a minimum of a Masters Limited 60 Ton certification
    SVMO certification preferred
  • Minimum of Standard Marine First Aid/CPR C
  • Radio Operator certification (ROC-MC)
